Did you hear about the Morgans?

Did you hear about the Morgans was a fun light hearted comedy, and the nice thing about it was it really felt like a relaxing vacation to the great plains of Wyoming. Hugh Grant is always giving one sly joke after another, much like his role in Two Weeks Notice which is why I think I enjoyed him so much in this flick. As for Sarah Jessica Parker, she didn't do to bad either, the two made a real nice pair!

Paul and Meryl Morgan are going through a seperation due to infidelity on pauls part.

Meryl moves out of the apartment and on with her life as an up and coming real estate agent in New York City and plans to do just fine without Paul. However after smoothly talking her into a date after 3 months of not seeing one another they give it a try. Shortly after the date as karma would have it they are witnesses to the murder of one of Meryl's clients and are thus placed in the witness protection program and sent to the beautiful plains of Ray Wyoming.

When Paul and Meryl arrive to their beautiful destination they are taken under the care of the towns local sherrif Clay Wheeler and his wife Emma.

Meryl has a cultural shock and is not happy with the idea that she has to spend who knows how long in wyoming with her soon to be ex husband and with no big shopping centers except for the ever so classy Bargin Barn (Which was filmed at a Costco)!

But as fate would have it, this is just the remedy that Paul and Meryl needed to help out in their marriage crisis. As the two odd balls get to experience wyoming for the first time they realize that mabey there is more to life than the hustle and bustle of the big city, and that there just might be hope for the Morgans.

Way cute show, I enjoyed it and got some great laughs!

I would give this one a B+

Starring Hugh Grand and Sarah Jessica Parker

Running Time 1Hr & 43Mins

Rated PG-13 For some sexual references and momentary violence

(500) Days of Summer

The tag line for this movie is

This is not a love story, Its a story about love

It was so true to. I honestly thought that was a way to take you off guard and that there would be a surprise ending that would make you say "Oh I never would have guessed!" Well that last part was true, I never would have guessed this movie would have ended the way it did.

Before I watch a movie I always go into it opened minded. So with this one I knew it was going to be a complicated mess which it was and anyone who knows me, knows I enjoy stuff like that. However this movie left me feeling both happy and sad at the same time.

So a Caution to anyone who watches this movie, don't think there will be a curve ball ending cuz their isn't.

This story is a about a boy named Tom. Tom Believes that there is such a thing as love at first sight and that he has been waiting his whole life to meet the girl of his dreams.

One day Tom meets a girl named Summer and thus begins our story.

Tom is completely taken off guard when he meets Summer and that he is convinced she is the one he has been waiting for his whole life, in a sense she is his soul mate. Summer however does not believe in soul mates.

At this point in the movie your thinking that she will eventually change her mind about that little detail, that's what I thought anyway, but no she doesn't. Summer likes Tom and from square one she has told him she isn't looking for a serious relationship, that she wants no pressure. Tom however is looking for that one thing in his life he has been missing and he believes that is Summer, so he is taken back by her request and hopes eventually that she will change her mind and fall head over heels for him, but she dosen't.

So in this movie we take a trip in the (500) days that Tom is in love with Summer. I won't go any further than what I have already told you. I want you to see it for yourself.

I would give this movie at best a B-

Don't get me wrong, the actors did a great job. However the story could have changed a little in my opinion.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel

What a Waste!

It's really sad when you have such a great actress such as Meryl Streep portraying such crap!

I saw the preview for this movie and thought it looked like a huge time waster, and it must be due to the R rating.

Nancy Meyers who wrote and directed the movie has had a couple of really cute films in the past and I was starting to enjoy her as a movie director because her movies are heartwarming and very entertaining. Too bad.

I think the thing that really irritates me, not only about this film, but with all other movies lately is the fact that they portray married couples having affairs like its no big deal! I'm sorry but what about that is entertaining? need I say more.

One of my All Time Favorite Composers...

Aaron Zigman has been the composer for films such as My Sisters Keeper, The Proposal,
Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium, Akeelah and the Bee and The Notebook.
Each score he has ever written is beautiful and always depicts each film with such emotion that you only wish you could hear music like that everyday, at least I do.
The next movie he has written a score for is The Last Song which will be released in April 2010 and I'm so excited to see what he has put together for it!

Another Great Movie Score!

The thing about movie's that have more than one installment is that the music is always the same, true the melody may be given a different feel every now and then (for example the first few Harry Potter films) But still come on it's nice to have a change every now and then.
But for the latest installment of Harry Potter, the Score takes on a different tone, and may I saw it was a great choice!
The music to the sixth Harry Potter movie was composed by Nicholas Hooper and he did a fantastic job! Every scene in this movie is filled with such emotion whether it be Action or otherwise and the music Carry's the film along very well. I sure hope Nicholas Hooper sticks around for the Seventh and final installment Harry Potter.
Check It Out

A Great Soundtrack

When I first saw this movie, I was expecting the Score to be a bit better than it was, after all the Score is a big part of a movie.
But after watching it again recently I fell in love with the soundtrack to this movie! Each song is sweet and light hearted and depicts each scene in the movie so well.
If you enjoy music as much as I do, give it a try

The Blind Side

The Blind Side has got to be one of the best pictures of 2009!
Sandra Bullocks performance was extraordinary, a definite Oscar contender! In fact this was Sandra Bullocks best performance ever!
Michael Ohr is a homeless African American boy who has no education and lives on the streets.
Each night Micheal goes back and forth in between staying at the laundry mat and what ever else is available to him.
One Night Micheal meets the Tuohy family, who out of the kindness of their hearts offer him a place for the night.
Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) takes it upon herself to look after Micheal and discover his past in order to find out how he ended up on the streets, and as she learns more about Micheal the more she cares for him. It's really touching how the Tuohy family reach out to Micheal and treat him as if he were always a part of their family.
The Tuohy's offer Micheal a permanent place to stay, take care of him, buy him new clothes and offer Micheal a place in their family.
Micheal is placed into the christian school that the Tuohy kids attend and at first has a rough start, and most of the teachers don't even want to give him the time of day since theirs is a school only for the best of the best and don't believe that Micheal has what it takes to attend.
However it turns out that Micheal just might have what it takes, not only in his schooling but in his athletic skills as well. Micheal try's out for the School football team and is a bit rough at first but after some practice becomes one of the best players on the team!
With the help from the Tuohy Family, Micheal is able to acheive the impossible and with a little help from Micheal, the Tuohy's live's are changed forever.
This is a very touching movie. The Best of 2009 by far!

Star Trek

We watched the new Star Trek movie, and I'm embarrassed to say I liked it.
I have never been a Trekie, as they call "real" Star Trek fans.
There have been numerous Star Trek films made and just to clarify this one has nothing to do with any of them.
This movie starts off from the very beginging, with Jim Kirk and Spocktelling the story of how they came to be Captins of the SS Enterprise.
It was very action packed and had a great cast as well.
Give it a try, you might be suprised how good it actually is.

Disney's A Christmas Carol

In the latest version of Charles Dickens classic story A Christmas Carol, director Robert Zemeckis takes us on a visionary ride much like his last Holiday movie The Polar Express.
Jim Carrey stars as Ebenezer Scrooge and he does a really good job at it!
I loved the way he dipicted Ebenezer, and the cool thing is Carey also plays the three Ghosts!
I especially loved the animation in this film, it was so creative and added to the mood of the film!
We all know the story of A Christmas Carol so there is no need to go into detail, but I will say this, this one was by far my favorite version.
We saw it in Disney Digital 3D so it added to the excitement of the movie and I would highly recommend it to anyone planning on going to see it while it is in the theaters.
I would add caution to parents with little kids, there were some pretty intense scenes in the movie that might scare them. Just a notice.
Great Movie! Everything was well done!

One of My Favorite Shows...

The King of Queens has been one of my favorite shows for a long time and I enjoy it tons, and what I love even more is watching it with the wife and seeing her reaction to some of the things that are said (it's quite hilarious to watch) But one thing that makes the show is the Chemistry between Dug (Kevin James) and Carrie (Leah Remini) they both make the show hilarious as well as heartwarming at times. Plus you can't forget Basement Arti, What would the show be without him!

My Life in Ruins

Nia Vardalos the star of My Big Fat Greek Wedding returns to the big screen in My Life in Ruins.

When Georgia becomes a tour guide in Greece she is determined to get her Kefi (aka mojo) back.

But after several months or so of being a tour guide of the famous Greek ruins, Georgia starts to get a little fed up with the fact that she is not appreciated in what she does and is always being given the TWWLTS tourists (those we would like to smack!)

When the movie begins Georgia has decided that she is going to be putting in her two weeks and will no longer be offering her tour expertise to those who don't appreciate it.

As the dreaded tour begins we meet all of the quote on quote Lovely people she will be the tour guide over for the next two weeks and like all tours their is always the rich snobs, interesting couples and the ever famous smart arce who can't keep his comments to himself.

At the beginning of the tour no one can stand each other which will make for a long tour of the ancient Greek sites but the one saving grace for Georgia it seems is her homeless looking bus driver Poupi (yes that's his real name and it is even pronounced as it sounds) who drives her crazy as well but seems to ad some comic relief to the stress in her life.

After a few days on the tour the group seems to somewhat warm up to each other and to Georgia as well, and through the whole experience the whole group becomes quite fond of one another and all the while they help give Georgia her Kefi Back.

Not the greatest acting I'll admit that but this makes for a fun light hearted comedy.

In the second installment of the Transformer series we are introduced to the most infamous decepticon known as the Fallen.

The Fallen and all of the Decepticons have a plan to take out the Autobots and anyone whom should stand in their way in their fight for world domination!

This was a pretty good follow up from the last Transformers Flick I wouldn't recommend it for young children.

Four Christmases

This movie could have been a fun holiday movie, but instead turned out to be a real crap fest.

Kate (Reese Witherspoon) and Brad (Vince Vaughn) decide that for Christmas instead of going home for the holidays to visit their parents they would instead lie to them and go to the Bahamas for a tropical holiday.

But their plans turn on them when a huge storm hits and their trip is canceled and get this for irony while at the airport Kate and Brad end up on the news and it just so happens their parents see them on t.v. and as fast as their little plan of leaving for the holidays happened they are now ending up having Christmas with all four parents.

In this movie we spend one anxiety filled day with the two love birds as they go to each others parents homes (both Kate and brads parents are divorced so they have four houses to visit in one day) and it is one mess after another at this point and in my opinion the whole movie has lost its charm and has turned into one of the worst holiday movies I have ever seen. Plus the Chemistry between Reese and Vince could not have been worse! I say Bah Humbug to this one.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

This is one my favorite movies! I didn't expect to like it as much as I did but I think the thing that made me like it was the way the characters were depicted in this film especially Brad Pitt (Who Knew!)

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is the Story of a baby born in the form of an old man.

Benjamin was thought to only live to be a few months old, but to everyones amazement he starts aging backwards, and thus begins the story of Benjamin Button.

Benjamin learns life's most important lessons while in his youth, as well as getting to experience the things in life he never thought he would. As Benjamin continues through his strange existence he meets Daisy who would soon become the love of his life.

The great thing about this movie is the love story between Benjamin and Daisy. Being able to see the different stages they go through in life together and especially the most heartwarming part of the film is when Benjamin grows younger and Daisy grows older. Daisy cares for Benjamin as he grows to be the age of an infant as if he were her own. The thing that really breaks your heart in this movie is knowing that Benjamin and Daisy could not grow old together, instead it is the exact opposite and even though their love for each other is so strong they both knew it couldn't last forever.

I 100% loved every bit of this film. It's one of those rare movies that make you wish they could go on forever, and in this case I wish it could have.

Four Stars ****

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Rated PG-13 For Brief War Violence, Sexual Content, Language and Smoking

Just to take a Moment....

I just wanted to take a moment and reflect on the wonderful General Conference weekend we have just been able to enjoy and the messages we were blessed to hear.
I look forward for the opportunity that is ours every sixth months to be able to hear the words from the prophet's and apostles of the Lord and to have our testimonies nourished and strengthened.
I am very grateful to belong to a church that I know is true, and know that we are being led by inspired leaders that guide us in righteous paths that will take us back to our loving Heavenly Father and savior Jesus Christ.

Duplicity

Rented this movie from the red box and I gotta say glad I didn't pay for full admission.

We watched this pointless movie for about forty minutes then shut it right off. A good movie will have introduced the plot within the first few minutes, however this one seemed to drag on and make you wish you could poke your eyes out.

Skip It.
